Traditionally, Hutto has hosted summer volleyball for middle school and high school girls. This year, the Sandbox will be the sponsor! We will run indoor, hard court league play for incoming 7th and 8th grade girls. Play will take place on Tuesday evenings (as it always has) May 20 - July 8, with an off week June 5, at Hutto Middle School and Farley Middle School (as it always has!) Area middle school volleyball coaches have the information, or you can go to the Volleyball tab here on our website, click on Summer League, and you will find the registration form and league rules and format information. $70 per girl for 7 weeks of play. Form your own teams (see your school coach) or register singly and be assigned a team. We can't wait!! Peace + Love + Volleyball!
Our first fundraising mailer was a complete success! Our address list isn't yet very long, but we raised $6,000 plus so far! We are so very grateful to those who were able and felt led to give to our little group. The funds are going toward our phase 1: the construction of the outdoor sand volleyball and basketball facility. Thank you thank you thank you!
Take a look at the donor wall and see how it's grown. We can't do it without you all.
My (Rachael) friends from Gar-Field HS in Dale City, VA are such generous souls! An alumni group called G-F Grad Events, formed to organize golf events to raise money for charities (and, of course, to have fun), has found it in their hearts to support The Sandbox at Madeline's Place. Thanks to them for the generous donation, and just as importantly, warming my heart with their support. I'm proud to be a G-F Indian!
The weather continues to win! We had to cancel our tailgate drive-in movie night due to rain, then the cold wind kept away most people from the Old Town Christmas Fair. BUT we sold raffle tickets and had a winner for the Hippo Stadium print! Congratulations to Rhonda Stromsness for winning the metal print AND thank you to her for donating back to us! Monica Hamby's generosity in providing the print and the raffle proceeds is most appreciated as well. We love this community!!!
The nasty weather this past weekend forced us to cancel a build day with the UT Wrangler Darlins. We had planned to build some picnic tables and benches to put around the fire pit. We will re-schedule. Instead, several of us got to work indoors. We are nearly ready to open! We now have a new bathroom floor, cleared out rooms, new comfy chairs for the TV room, clean windows, and a clean kitchen.
We will open with tutoring and homework help, ping pong, and a TV/movie room. We are in search of a desktop computer, and a gaming system. If you can help, please email us at email@example.com
Our opening date will be posted soon! Can't wait!
Some of us board members spent the day today scraping old paint and power washing the starting home for The Sandbox at Madeline's Place. Thanks to the generosity of Hutto Baptist Church, we have use of a small house behind the church in which to start our teen center. So excited! Next Saturday (Nov. 2) we welcome area high school students to come out and help us paint and get this thing ready! 2pm for painting, followed by BBQ and a bonfire. Free for those who volunteer. Wear your HS shirt! Local news to cover!
Here ya go! The rendering of the "Madeline's Place" part of The Sandbox at Madeline's Place. We are dreaming big! Big and beautiful!
This Saturday, 10/19/13, come out to our booth (#84 on Farley St.) at Hutto Olde Tyme Days! We will have more surveys so you can let us know what you'd like to see in a teen center/sand volleyball facility here in Hutto. There will be t-shirts and hats for sale, information about our plans, and drawings for prizes. Best of all - we will be unveiling our dream design for our place!!
We had a great meeting with the UT Wranger Darlins, a sisterhood of service minded UT girls. They all signed up as Street Team Members, committing to living "Be Honest. Be Kind. Speak Up." AND want to work with us going forward as fundraisers and volunteers. We are so excited to have their support. What a great group of girls! Thanks to Julia Moore for setting up this partnership. :)
YAY! We've got our "How You Can Help" tab going. Lists of what we need, how you can volunteer and how you can give financially. Every little bit helps, and we are oh so appreciative of our donors. We can't do this without you!
